Holly Young– Psychotherapist, CTA, UKCP
Like all of us I have many intersectional identities. I am a white female and neurodivergent, I’m a mother to neurodivergent and physically disabled children, I grew up in Wales amongst the hills, trees and rivers and I love music.
Like many psychotherapists I was drawn to this work after experiencing my own personal struggles and the healing power of the therapeutic relationship.
I had long been drawn to work therapeutically having worked, from a young age, with vulnerable young people and adults with learning difficulties, challenging home lives and those who weren’t able to fit into the system.
I started training in Transactional Analysis in 2019. In August 2025 I took my final oral exam to qualify as a CTA (Certified Transactional Analyst) Psychotherapist. I have been working with clients for over 4 years, and continue to train and develop as my work is an evolving practice.
As part of best practice I have regular high quality supervision and continue to undergo personal therapy. I am registered with UKATA and EATA and follow their ethical guidance.
My professional experience before starting my training with TAC (Transactional Analysis Cymru) was working as a Parent and Child Group Coordinator in our local Steiner school, working as a birth doula, being a shared life provider to young autistic people and working with young people who had challenging lives. My early training was in performance in the community and I have enjoyed using my creativity in every area of my life.
I work co-creatively in a way that means both the client and the therapist are as important in the therapeutic process and both work to understand the unfolding issues. I believe the therapeutic relationship has the power for healing and growth.
In the last 6 years I have been developing my understanding of neurodivergence and in particular autism.
